Week 2: Advancing to Higher Multiplication

Before you start day 6: Have students write multiplication facts 1-6 on a sheet of paper without any help. Review the paper and have students make anything that is missed into a flashcard for homework study. 

Day 6: Multiplying by 7s and 8s

  • Objective: Learn multiplication facts for 7s and 8s.
  • Activities: Use music videos that sing through the 7s and 8s multiplication tables.

Day 7: Multiplying by 9s

  • Objective: Master the 9s multiplication facts.

Day 8: Multiplying by 10s, 11s, and 12s

  • Objective: Learn and practice multiplication facts for 10s, 11s, and 12s.
  • Activities: Discussion on easy patterns when multiplying by 10s and 11s.
  • Interactive Game: 10s, 11s, and 12s.

Multiplication by 10s

Have student count by tens. For and example

10,20,30,40,50, 60,70,80,90,100,110,120

Hint: when multiplying by ten, just take the number that 10 is being multiplied by and a zero.

For an Example:

10×1=10, a zero have been added to 1

10×2=20, a zero has been added to the number 2

10×3= 30, a zero has been added to the number 3

Day 10: Final Assessment and Fun Day

  • Objective: Final assessment of all multiplication facts.
  • Assessment: Comprehensive test on all multiplication facts.
  • Fun Activity: End the lesson with a multiplication fact scavenger hunt or a multiplication karaoke contest.

Take some more time to go over that specific area. You can do this. Below you will find a pre-test and a test. I invite you to do the pre-test first for practice to get your engine going. Practice it until you are ready. After your are sure, take the post test, print it out, or screen shot it (for your computer or your notebook). Record in your gradebook. The website does not record your grades, so its up to you to do so.
